The Little Match Girl

by: HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN

Most terribly cold it was; it snowed, and was nearly quite dark, and evening-- the last evening of the year. In this cold and darkness there went along the street a poor little girl, bareheaded, and with naked feet. When she left home she had slippers on, it is true; but what was the good of that? They were very large slippers, which her mother had hitherto worn; so large were they; and the poor little thing lost them as she scuffled away across the street, because of two carriages that rolled by dreadfully fast.

One slipper was nowhere to be found; the other had been laid hold of by an urchin, and off he ran with it; he thought it would do capitally for a cradle when he some day or other should have children himself. So the little maiden walked on with her tiny naked feet, that were quite red and blue from cold. She carried a quantity of matches in an old apron, and she held a bundle of them in her hand. Nobody had bought anything of her the whole livelong day; no one had given her a single farthing.

She crept along trembling with cold and hunger--a very picture of sorrow, the poor little thing!

The flakes of snow covered her long fair hair, which fell in beautiful curls around her neck; but of that, of course, she never once now thought. From all the windows the candles were gleaming, and it smelt so deliciously of roast goose, for you know it was New Year's Eve; yes, of that she thought.

In a corner formed by two houses, of which one advanced more than the other, she seated herself down and cowered together. Her little feet she had drawn close up to her, but she grew colder and colder, and to go home she did not venture, for she had not sold any matches and could not bring a farthing of money: from her father she would certainly get blows, and at home it was cold too, for above her she had only the roof, through which the wind whistled, even though the largest cracks were stopped up with straw and rags.

Her little hands were almost numbed with cold. Oh! a match might afford her a world of comfort, if she only dared take a single one out of the bundle, draw it against the wall, and warm her fingers by it. She drew one out. "Rischt!" how it blazed, how it burnt! It was a warm, bright flame, like a candle, as she held her hands over it: it was a wonderful light. It seemed really to the little maiden as though she were sitting before a large iron stove, with burnished brass feet and a brass ornament at top. The fire burned with such blessed influence; it warmed so delightfully. The little girl had already stretched out her feet to warm them too; but--the small flame went out, the stove vanished: she had only the remains of the burnt-out match in her hand.

She rubbed another against the wall: it burned brightly, and where the light fell on the wall, there the wall became transparent like a veil, so that she could see into the room. On the table was spread a snow-white tablecloth; upon it was a splendid porcelain service, and the roast goose was steaming famously with its stuffing of apple and dried plums. And what was still more capital to behold was, the goose hopped down from the dish, reeled about on the floor with knife and fork in its breast, till it came up to the poor little girl; when--the match went out and nothing but the thick, cold, damp wall was left behind. She lighted another match. Now there she was sitting under the most magnificent Christmas tree: it was still larger, and more decorated than the one which she had seen through the glass door in the rich merchant's house.

Thousands of lights were burning on the green branches, and gaily-colored pictures, such as she had seen in the shop-windows, looked down upon her. The little maiden stretched out her hands towards them when--the match went out. The lights of the Christmas tree rose higher and higher, she saw them now as stars in heaven; one fell down and formed a long trail of fire.

"Someone is just dead!" said the little girl; for her old grandmother, the only person who had loved her, and who was now no more, had told her, that when a star falls, a soul ascends to God.

She drew another match against the wall: it was again light, and in the lustre there stood the old grandmother, so bright and radiant, so mild, and with such an expression of love.

"Grandmother!" cried the little one. "Oh, take me with you! You go away when the match burns out; you vanish like the warm stove, like the delicious roast goose, and like the magnificent Christmas tree!" And she rubbed the whole bundle of matches quickly against the wall, for she wanted to be quite sure of keeping her grandmother near her. And the matches gave such a brilliant light that it was brighter than at noon-day: never formerly had the grandmother been so beautiful and so tall. She took the little maiden, on her arm, and both flew in brightness and in joy so high, so very high, and then above was neither cold, nor hunger, nor anxiety--they were with God.

But in the corner, at the cold hour of dawn, sat the poor girl, with rosy cheeks and with a smiling mouth, leaning against the wall--frozen to death on the last evening of the old year. Stiff and stark sat the child there with her matches, of which one bundle had been burnt. "She wanted to warm herself," people said. No one had the slightest suspicion of what beautiful things she had seen; no one even dreamed of the splendor in which, with her grandmother she had entered on the joys of a new year.

-This is one of my favorite Christmas story. It is so sad and I would feel so numb whenever I read it. It taught me a lot of lessons, about the reason for this season, about the spirit of Christmas. If only.....

The Nativity

Thousands of years ago, in the town of Nazareth, there lived a young woman named Mary. She was engaged to Joseph, a carpenter. One day an angel appeared before her and told her she had been chosen to have a special baby. The baby would be God's son and she must call him Jesus. Soon after the angel's visit, Mary and Joseph were married. Mary was due to have her baby when they were told they had to go on a long journey to Bethlehem, which was where Joseph came from. This was because they had to pay a special tax. Mary had to ride on a donkey for a few days over the hills of Gallilee. At last Mary and Joseph arrived in Bethlehem. It was crowded with other people who needed to pay their taxes. Mary was very tired and needed a place to stay. But there was no room for them. Eventually, one kind innkeeper said he had a stable where he kept his animals. They were welcome to stay there. And so it was that a few hours later, Mary gave birth to her son in that stable. She wrapped Jesus in strips of cloth and laid Him in a manger full of hay.
At about the same time, on a hillside overlooking Bethlehem, some shepherds were watching over their sheep. A bright light appeared in the sky. They were very afraid. It was an angel sent by God. The angel told them not to be afraid, because he had some good news. He said the Son of God had been born and they would find Him in Bethlehem. The shepherds wanted to go and see the baby. When they arrived at the stable, they were filled with joy at seeing Jesus lying in the manger. They knelt down and worshipped Him. They told Mary and Joseph how the angel had appeared in the sky and told them that Jesus was to be the Saviour of the world.

Far away in the East, Wise Men saw a new star shining high in the sky. These men studied the stars and they knew this was a very special star. They studied their scrolls where it said that whenever a bright new star appeared it meant that a great ruler had been born. The Wise Men decided to find this new ruler. They went to Jerusalem to see King Herod, as they thought the baby would be in the palace. The king thought this new king may take away his throne. He told them to return when they had found the baby so that he could worship the child himself. The Wise Men set off to find the baby. They were guided by the star to the stable in Bethlehem. Here they knelt down and worshipped Jesus. They gave him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. That night, the men had the same dream where an angel warned them that King Herod wanted to kill Jesus and told them not to go back to his palace. The Wise Men went back to their own country without calling to see Herod.

Soon after Joseph had a dream where an angel told him to take Mary and Jesus to Egypt as King Herod had ordered that Jesus be killed. They left Bethlehem right away.

happy anniversary to us.....

I Miss You On Our Anniversary!
It's lonelier than most days I'm alone,
Even though we manage on the phone
To touch with words the face we cannot see.
You away are far more dear to me
Than anyone who might remain at home.
My love is in the places that you roam,
Being with you where I cannot be.
We do not choose the objects of our passion,
But passively await the holy fire
That immolates our past and lights our fate,
Twisting through the alleys of desire.
So I am yours, and will contented wait,
Allowing love my life and will to fashion.
The day I met you...I found true love.
A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person. ~Mignon McLaughlin

ChRistMas in The StreeTs...

Nay inside the house.
The neighborhood....
Our snowman hehehe... outside our home.
Christmas tree from dried langka tree, adorned with colored liquid candy plastics and miniature lights.

The neighborhood is in a frenzy. We have decided to join the Christmas contest in our place under the category: Most Lighted and decorated Street.
I have been amazed with the cooperation and effort that everyone exerted.
Our official lighting begins tonight. As the lights were up, I can't help but be awed.I know it's not about the prize at stake that everybody is contributing, it's about the pride and prestige.
We neighbors seldom had a chance to talk and mingle with each other since most of the people in the neighborhood have jobs during the day.But this time, all seemed to reach out and enjoy each other's company as we worked towards one goal.

LOVE

Love is not a single act, but a climate in which we live.A lifetime venture we are always learning, discovering and growing. It is not destroyed by a single failure or won by a caress.Love is a climate of the heart.
Love is a question we have always attempted to answer in more than one-way. This only shows that it is quite impossible to grasp and comprehend the totality of its being. But we try don't we?We try and find out by getting hurt. We try and find out.
When you enter a relationship, when you commit yourself, you must bear in mind that you are also sharing a part of yourself to a stranger who by mere chance or destined fate you happen to like and love.In doing so, you take the risk.He is a different person that is why you shouldn't expect him to be like you. To posess the same thoughts, to own the same emotions. You love him because he is he and not because he is you. This being so you learn to accept him in his totality as a person.Growth is brought about by your differences, which in one way or another cultivate the relationship. It is important to remember that trust is a vital element of any relationship. Unconditional trust. No ifs, no buts.
When you love, honestly love, then you must be willing to sacrifice. There are times when hurt goes deep, when the pain is almost unbearable, when you are about to give up.But loving is not giving up easily. It is being there when all has been done. When there is very little strength left. When it is too much to stand.Loving is trusting.Loving is letting be.
Nobody promised you a garden of rose. But you are a promise. Get the best out of life. Love and get hurt.Get hurt and learn.Learn and love again. It is a cycle of being. Experience the cycle.Experience love.LOVE AND LIVE.

All I really need to know I learned in kindergarten

All I really need to know about how to live and what to do and how to be I learned in kindergarten. Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate-school mountain, but there in the sandpile at Sunday School. These are the things I learned. Share everything. Play fair. Don't hit people. Put things back where you found them. Clean up your own mess. Don't take things that aren't yours. Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody. Wash your hands before you eat. Flush. Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you. Live a balanced life-learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some. Take a nap every afternoon. When you go out into the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands, and stick together. Be aware of wonder. Remember the little seed in the styrofoam cup: The roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that. Goldfish and hamsters and white mice and even the little seed in the Styrofoam cup-they all die. So do we. And then remember the Dick-and-Jane books and the first word you learned-the biggest word of all - LOOK.

Everything you need to know is in there somewhere. The Golden Rule and love and basic sanitation. Ecology and politics and equality and sane living. Take any of those items and extrapolate it into sophisticated adult terms and apply it to your family life or your work or your government or your world and it holds true and clear and firm. Think what a better world it would be if all-the whole world-had cookies and milk about three o'clock every afternoon and then lay down with our blankies for a nap. Or if all governments had a basic policy to always put thing back where they found them and to clean up their own mess. And it is still true, no matter how old you are-when you go out into the world, it is best to hold hands and stick together.

now and then

The Paradox of our Time by George Carlin

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers; wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less; we buy more but enjoy less We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time; we have more degrees, but less sense; more knowledge, but less judgment; more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness. We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often. We've learned how to make a living, but not a life, we've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor.

We conquered outer space but not inner space.

We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul.

We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice.

We write more, but learn less.

We plan more, but accomplish less.

We've learned to rush, but not to wait.

We build more computers to hold more information to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion; big men and small character; steep profits and shallow relationships.

These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throw-away morality, one-night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the show window and nothing in the stock room.

A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete.

Remember, spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember, to say "I Love you" to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment, for some day, that person will not be there again.

Give time to Love, give time to speak, give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

a tribute to where I am...

The first time I came here to actually live, I cried bucket of tears. Yes. I did say bucket.I thought I could not survive in a place where there are no malls, fancy restaurants, fastfoods, hotels, theaters& cinemas, night places to go for barkada gimmicks not even a Jollibee. The place had only one big but not so complete supermart, one wet market, and a few business establishments.I could not imagine myself at first, how can I survive in this place when back home SM City was just a 3minute ride from my house?
But 8 years later and looking back ....whew! I surely have come a long way. I guess one way it subdued the gimikera image of me and made me appreciate that simple things in life I used to take for granted.
This island where I live now is a thing of beauty. They call it undiscovered paradise.Well, I wanted to post here pictures depicting what this island has to offer.
In the map, it looks like just a speck atop one of the main islands of the Visayas,in the Philippines.
Ahhhh...I think I got one. We are always present on the list whenever there's a typhoon.Mostly if we are not under signal number 1, it will be 2 or 3 or worse the center of the typhoon. In fact in my 8years of existing here,I have lost count of the number of typhoon hits that we have had.
This is our Pier ...... On the way to Naval...Going to the market...
Here are some pictures I've got from the web.But I will be posting my own pics any day soon.

falling in love .... like never before

STARRING

Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Billy Burke, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Cam Gigandet, and Nikki Reed

Awesome.

been away ...

well......
it's been a while since my last post.
I miss blogging so much.
It's not that I've been away physically, I was just self-searching.
Hmmm....
But the outcome of my search has done me good.
I realized that much has changed within me.
Before I was such a jealous person and very selfish.I was so short tempered and I could not contain my negative emotions . I fall short in every expectations my family has of me.
But now, family life has made me a better person.
I am not the jealous person anymore maybe because I have outgrown my insecurities.
I have learned to be selfless instead of selfish. I am able to control my tempers and I don't dwell anymore on negative thoughts and emotions. I have learned to look at the positive side of life and my friends said it reflects on my face.
It is my goal never to forget to pray each day for His guidance that I might do well each day of my life. Afterall, we will pass this way only once.

All Saints Day, Nov. 1 in the Philippines

All Saints Day falls on a Saturday this year, and its gonna be tomorrow.Thankfully, work's until half-day only so I can spend the afternoon at the cemetery. I have announced early that I would be going and visit my loved ones since I wasn't able to do last year because of my work. I've already bought flowers at the "tabo" this afternoon, it was nice though for only 150 php. It's a bundle of anthuriums, morning glory, baby's breathe and those tiny yellow and white flowers that looks like mini morning glorys. It's just me and Shan this time, all of them are not available.I can't help but be teary eyed thinking how we used to be complete during these times, visiting and cleaning there.
I'm a bit sad coz' I won't be able to visit my own grandpa's grave because I am miles away.I promise that I will visit him when I go back home this Christmas.
I am crying now...ohhh, such a crybaby of me, sorry I can't help it.Tomorrow, Nov. 1, is also a special day for me.It was the time I fell in love with him.You might think it's weird but when cupid's arrow struck, you can't really choose the date haha. And he's so far away right now that I miss him so much.Nahhh....this is the life of a seafarer's wife.
Back to my topic....
Way back when I was young, in my howmtown Iloilo, my Lola would cook usually native "kakanin's", but here, they don't practice it.I totally miss my Lola's cooking. I am quite surprise by the tradition here because food has always been a part of the celebration.Well, so much for comparison, I really have to sleep early tonight so I'll be ready tomorrow. I know we have to clean the place.

a little something for nanay

My mom-in- law and I recently went to a Chinese shop selling porcelain jars and decorations, they were giving out leaflets stating that they are on clearance sale for the Chinese new year.Nay said she really like something there and when I saw it I think it was really a beauty.
I would like to describe it but I think I better take some snaps and post it here, um or maybe post what's inside the shop. Of course we ended up buying the jar , the original price was Php 22,000 or so the tag says, the owner said it has handcrafted designs, which are more intricate than painted ones but because they are on sale from 20 to 90 %,we got it for only Php 3,800 after much haggling. I told nanay it would be our advanced christmas gift to her since I won't be here for the holiday.I also bought something but I can't describe how beautiful it is, maybe make another post about it next week , with the picture and all.
Ciao for now!

Boracay

This is Boracay. Bathe in its beauty!

The world-famous island of Boracay is located in Aklan province 345 kms. South of Manila. The island is accessible by air from Manila or Cebu through two principal gateways: Caticlan airport or Kalibo airport.
Yahoo! Travel just announced The World’s Most Popular Beaches of 2007, and on top of the list is our very own Boracay Island in Aklan.

I have been there twice. The first time was during the Holy Week where my barkadas and fellow workers spent 3days of our holiday vacation. It took my breathe away the first moment I laid my eyes on the island.I couldn't believe I am touching its white fine sands with my own two feet.We were supposed to be bonding there as friends but because of isssues and misunderstandings, I didn't quite enjoy. But don't take me wrong, it's not because of the place, it's because of the people I am with.Still, it is my favorite place on earth.
The second time was more memorable, coz I was with my loved ones and I totally enjoyed every minute I was there, partaking of it's beauty. Whenever I gaze into the green sparkling sea, I feel so calm and serene, that it seems all my problems are gone.Pardon me if I was being too wordy but this is my way of sharing my beautiful experience in Boracay. And if its not yet too much to ask from Ken, maybe we can go back there for summer next year? Just hoping huh. :0)
Well anyway, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.I still have five months to prep.

my journey home

after spending my time musing, i decided to start packing small things to send home first via jrs -our local freight service.I was thinking about how much would it cost me to send most of the things first, mostly stuffs like books, clothes, little accessories and beddings.Would it be better if I put them in big boxes rather than pack in plastics?Well, they charged really high for boxes but only minimum for pouches or plastics.I was also thinking about sending it via the postal agency because I think they charge cheaper but i'm not sure yet.
maybe tomorrow i'll drop by and ask.Anyway i wont be going home till the 20th of dec. and I was set going there via plane.

funny sign

-this one really perked up my day!

photo from tripntale.com. thank you.

unwell

I woke up this morning feeling really low. Perhaps because i'm depressed with something.Ate KC has been chosen to be Miss Japan for their school's United Nations Celebration and the program was held this morning.I was not able to attend, apparently because I'm miles and miles away. I really wanted to, I know she will be happy if I'll be there but it just wont do for now. In my mind it was just so simple to think of taking the plane and going there but in reality it's not that easy. But I promised her that as soon as my purpose here is done, I will be going home and that would be soon.Anyway I have asked my younger brother to take pictures and send it to my cp but my cp can't receive multi-media message, it sez on the screen duh ;).Deal with it later.

Hah, feeling better now. I didn't go to work today. Not just on my element.I spent the whole day musing.hmmp.

something personal ...

Barbara De Angelis:

Love is a choice you make from moment to moment.

- I totally agree. If we look closely at everything around us, we will see that we are surrounded by love.Love from our special someone, from our family, from our children, from our friends, from our co-workers and most importantly, the love that God unconditionally gave us.It is indeed a choice that we make every moment of our lives. If we choose not to love, we are giving up all the joys and warmth only love can give.Although sometimes love can be very painful, like a thorn it would leave scars into our lives, but as human beings we learn how to forgive and forget and love again.

Christmas is fast approaching...

The starting of months ending with "ber" usually means that Christmas is fast approaching, and Christmastime is my favorite part of the year.I have lots of reasons as to why : during this time of the year I usually take a leave from work and visit my family in my hometown and celebrate our yearly family reunion, that December is our wedding anniversary month and December 10 is the birthday of my beloved Nanay Neneng,I'm usually at my happiest during the Christmas season most especially because we get to celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. This year, I already made a list of things to buy for the family.I'm going to post it here lest' I forget about it.

1. Smart link phone kit for ken.
2. Treadmill for me.
3. Tom and Jerry stuffed toy for dale.
4. A new barbie doll for ate kc.
5. Round table for Nay and Tay.
6. Dress for Lola.

might as well start looking right now to avoid the holiday rush...

What gift to give?

I have posted here a picture during that flood.

I have been wondering what gift to give for the kind angel who saved my parent's lives during that flood in my hometown, you must have read or heard about it in the news somewhere.I have been thinking of thanking her personally but the shy person that I am I guess that seems to be impossible.Writing her a letter of thank you perhaps?, I think she deserves much better.Maybe I'll try sending her flowers with thank you notes. I know that no material thing can ever surpass the kind deed that she has done to my parents. I, from the deepest of my heart would like to thank YOU... MA'AM for saving two precious people in my life.I realized that one way of returning the kindness that we have received is to give it back also to those who need it most. I hope that there are more angels like you that roam this world that we live in. God Bless You and your Family!

World Peace

Here is a story told in a conference that I've attended, read and ponder the essence of the story.

A kind man was conversing with two of his friends. The man asked one of them, "How do you know when the night is over and a new day has begun?"

His friend replied,"When you look in the east and can distinguish a sheep from a goat, then you know the night is over and a new day has begun."

He asked the second one the same question. He replied, "When you look into the distance and can distinguish an olive tree from a fig tree, then you know morning has come and a new day has begun."

Then the two friends asked him back the same question.

He thought for a while and then said, "When you look into the east and see the face of a woman and can say, "She is my sister, and when you look into the West and see the face of a man and can say,"He is my brother, then you know the light of a new day has come."

The story reminds us of brotherhood. If only all the hatred that exists among people can be erased and replaced with love for our fellow human beings, then maybe world peace wouldn't seem impossible after all.

Web acronyms for newbies....

HTML - Hyper Text Markup Language
Web pages are written in hypertext, this is not because the text moves quickly, but rather because it can interact (a little) with the reader. A book (or a Word document) will always stay the same each time you read it, but hypertext is meant to be easily changed and manipulated so that it could ultimately be Dynamic.

DHTML or dHTML - Dynamic HTML
This is a combination of the Document Object Model (DOM), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and JavaScript that allows HTML to interact more directly with the readers. For more information, read my article Dynamic HTML References.

DOM - Document Object Model
This is the specification for how the HTML, JavaScript, and CSS will interact to form Dynamic HTML. It defines the methods and objects available for Web Developers to use.

CSS - Cascading Style Sheets
Style sheets are directives for browsers to display Web pages exactly how the designer would like to display them. They allow for very specific control over the look and feel of a Web page.

XML - eXtensible Markup Language
This is a markup language that allows developers to develop their own markup language. For more information, I would read my article XML Explained.

URL - Uniform Resource Locator (some say Universal Resource Locator)

This is the Web page address. The Internet works very much like the post office in that it needs an address to send information to and from. The URL is the address that the Web uses.

HTTP - Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (some say Hyper Text Transport Protocol)
Basically, when you see this in a URL, all it means is Web Page. However, it is officially the method that the "post office" uses to send your Web page from it's home to your Web browser. It is the way the "hypertext" (Web page information) is transferred to your computer.

FTP - File Transfer Protocol
When you see this in a URL it usually means that instead of a Web server machine on the other end, you are connecting to a file server machine. For our purposes, the difference between ftp:// and http:// is that FTP usually means that something will be saved to your hard drive.

computers....computers...computers....

My line of work has got to do with computers, and sometimes things can go crazy. To give you an idea, here are some computer humors I got from the web.Have a great laugh!

Email from a friend

Got this email from a friend:

----------

Mouse balls

I don't know how they wrote this with a straight face.

This apparently was a real memo sent at a computer company to its employees in all seriousness...

This memo is from an unnamed computer company. It went to all field engineers about a computer peripheral problem. The author of this memo was quite serious. The engineers rolled on the floor.

"Mouse Balls"

Mouse balls are now available as FRU (Field Replacement Unit). Therefore, if a mouse fails to operate or should it perform erratically, it may need a ball replacement. Because of the delicate nature of this procedure, replacement of mouse balls should only be attempted by properly trained personnel.

Before proceeding, determine the type of mouse balls by examining the underside of the mouse. Domestic balls will be larger and harder than foreign balls. Ball removal procedures differ depending upon the manufacturer of the mouse. Foreign balls can be replaced using the pop-off method. Domestic balls are replaced by using the twist-off method.

Mouse balls are not usually static sensitive. However, excessive handling can result in sudden discharge.

Upon completion of ball replacement, the mouse may be used immediately. It is recommended that each replacer have a pair of spare balls for maintaining optimum customer satisfaction. Any customer missing his balls should suspect local personnel of removing these necessary items."

To get your daily exercise, just click on "run"!

If you needed a break from life, click on suspend.

Hit "any key" to continue life when ready.

To get even with the neighbors,

To improve your appearance,
just adjust the display settings.

If life gets too noisy, turn off the speakers.

The train is so crowded that you cannot get anywhere near that nice girl at the other end...
You wish there was zoom & 'view full screen' in life!

After marriage you realize that there is bound to be a mismatch...
You wish there was an evaluation period or at least a sample down load or a demo version!

One day you realize that your are turning bald...
You wish there was cut and paste in life!

Voided warranty

After buying a PC from a dealer of shady shady repute, the luckless customer unpacked his new toy and plugged it in to find it Dead On Arrival.

Naturally, after checking the usual things, he called the dealer and explained his problem. First question from Deviously Evasive Dealer: "Did you check to see whether the power was on?"

"Of course."

DED: "Did you open the cover and check whether any of the boards had shaken loose in shipping?"

"Of course."

DED: Then why are you calling me?"

"Well, you sold it to me and there has to be some kind of warranty," pleaded the frustrated purchaser.

"Of course there is," replied the DED, "But you voided the warranty when you opened the cover."

gym anyone?

I will never forget this date : October 6,2008.This is the first time I hit the gym together with my co-workers.I was feeling so confident and bubbly by the time we finished our registration and paid Php 400.00 for a month's membership.Everything seem to work out fine, I did the warming up routine beaming(saying to myself, at last i'm on the first step in reaching my goal-that is to loose weight).I was instructed to step on the treadmill first, then the bicycle or whatever it was, then something like a pedal (when you step on the pedals, both your hands and feet are alternately moving.I was laughing at myself at first, I didn't quite mind that I was feeling nauseated already,I continue doing the routine although I was feeling so tired and hungry and thirsty. Then a sudden blackness enveloped me,I was at the verge of falling when I reached for a chair and sat down. The instructor approached me and asked if I was feeling ill.I said yes and asked for water. When he gave me the water he said I was not looking too good, my lips are ashen white and my face looks so pale. That's when I began to feel afraid, I immediately prayed for my safety. After a while my companions approached me and offered to take me home, they weren't aware about what happened to me coz they're quite far from me.By that time,my vision had returned to normal, I was not dizzy anymore so I agreed to go home.
This is my first gym experience.I think I'm going back to playing badminton.

Glitter Words
[Glitterfy.com - *Glitter Words*]

I have been staring at the screen for a while, searching for words but i can't seem to form anything to post under my greetings.I have been in this town for eight years but from my point of view, nothing has changed since i came here...(except in political aspect) but still the same sleepy with a few developments but still mediocre.I would often compare celebrations here to that of my hometown and it makes my yearning to return much painful. But soon,soon...it will be.

Never Say Goodbye

A friend emailed me this poem and I really liked it that I want to share this with everybody.

NEVER SAY GOODBYE

Never say goodbye
if you still want to try
Never give up
if you feel you can go on
Never say you don't love a person anymore
if you feel you can't let go

For love comes to those who still hope
although they've been disappointed
To those who still believe
although they've been betrayed
To those who still need love
although they've been hurt before
And to those who still have the courage
and faith to build trust again

It takes only a minute
to get a crush on someone
an hour to like someone
and a day to love someone
But it takes a lifetime to forget someone

Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people
before meeting the right one
So that when we finally met that right person
We will learn how to be grateful for that gift.

Love according to...

Albert Einstein:
Gravitation is not responsible for people falling in love

Amy Bloom:
Love at first sight is easy to understand; it's when two people have been looking at each other for a lifetime that it becomes a miracle.

Anais Nin:
Love never dies a natural death. It dies because we don't know how to replenish its source. It dies of blindness and errors and betrayals. It dies of illness and wounds; it dies of weariness, of witherings, of tarnishings.

Ann Landers:
If you have love in your life it can make up for a great many things you lack. If you don't have it, no matter what else there is, it's not enough.

Carl Jung:
Where love rules, there is no will to power; and where power predominates, there love is lacking. The one is the shadow of the other.

Richard Bach

Can miles truly separate you from friends... If you want to be with someone you love, aren't you already there?

Saint Augustine

Love is the beauty of the soul.

Different Faces of Love

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
—I Corinthians 13:4-8a (NIV)

Love is like an eternal flame,
Once it is lit, it will continue to burn for all time.

Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself.
Love possesses not nor would it be possessed;
For love is sufficient unto love.

Love is broad; if you love someone, you love all things,
not just their beauty.
Love is narrow; you love one and only one, compared to them, no one matters.

Love is something eternal; the aspect may change,
but not the essence.

“There is nothing stronger than true love. You must believe to understand, and you must understand to believe. If you don't believe, you can't understand, and, if you don't understand, you can't believe.”

“True love is eternal, infinite, and always like itself. It is equal and pure, without violent demonstrations: it is seen with white hairs and is always
young in the heart.”

on being a blogger

Tired from the pressure of my job,and with my beloved working oceans and oceans away from me, i usually come home everyday exhausted and oftentimes irritated.Only the kids can ease my weariness away, but when a friend suggested I try blogging,it instantly changed my life or rather the routine of my life.Let me put it into other words, whenever I visit my site and breathe in how I have come this far,I feel this other kind of happiness I never thought there is.It is therapeutic for me and at the same time it became an outlet to air what's on my mind, what I like best and what my preferences are. It's like my personal diary that is being used to amuse, inform and inspire my fellow beings.
I may be not the best in this field but I love what I'm doing and what's important is that doing this makes me happy.
And this goes out to all blogger in the world.

Angel in Disguise

Everyday we encounter angels in our lives, maybe we just don't recognize them right away because they come in many disguises.I believe that this story related to me by my parents is one example of this.

The month of June is unforgettable for the people in the City of Love. The supertyphoon Frank just lashed its strong winds and rains in the city causing flash flood and taking many lives and resources. My parents went out to help my brother and sister who were victims of the flood, but while on their way they were met with strong currents of flood water, floating furniture and appliances from damaged houses. No matter how dangerous it may seem they continued to swim their way and clung on to each other, all the time thinking about my siblings but nearing the bridge (which by that time is already underwater),they were pulled away from the street and guided into a two story building. Then they were not permitted to go out, because they said all the houses in the bridge are washed away and that it will be impossible for them to go across. They all went to the rooftop when the water reach the second level of the building, there they waited until the wee hours of the morning. All my parents could do was pray for the safety of my brother and sister.
Soaking wet and shivering, they were given dry clothes and food by the owner and made their stay as comfortable as it can be.
As soon as it was okay to tread the ground, my parents proceeded, they passed by many drowned victims along the way. When they reached our place there they found my brother and sister safe and sound. They were able to come to our house before it was too late.
Until now my parents cannot stop talking about that kind person who saved them. For me she is one of the angels in disguise.I know I can never thank her enough, but nevertheless I will always bear in my heart my deep gratitude for her. Thank you so much and God Bless you and your Family.

Wonderful poem

WHEN TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME By David M. Romano - Copyright, December 1993

When tomorrow starts without me, and I'm not there to see;
If the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me;
I wish so much you wouldn't cry the way you did today,
while thinking of the many things we didn't get to say.
I know how much you love me, as much as I love you,
and each time you think of me I know you'll miss me too;
But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand,
that an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand,
and said my place was ready in heaven far above,
and that I'd have to leave behind all those I dearly love.
But as I turned to walk away, a tear fell from my eye,
for all life, I'd always thought I didn't want to die.
I had so much to live for and so much yet to do,
it seemed almost impossible that I was leaving you.
I thought of all the yesterdays, the good ones and the bad,
I thought of all the love we shared and all the fun we had.
If I could relive yesterday, I thought, just for awhile,
I'd say goodbye and kiss you and maybe see you smile.
But then I fully realized that this could never be,
for emptiness and memories would take the place of me.
And when I thought of worldly things that I'd miss come tomorrow,
I thought of you, and when I did, my heart was filled with sorrow.
But when I walked through heaven's gates, I felt so much at home.
When God looked down and smiled at me, from His great golden throne,
He said, "This is eternity and all I've promised you".
Today for life on earth is past but here it starts anew.
I promise no tomorrow, but today will always last,
and since each day's the same day, there's no longing for the past.
But you have been so faithful, so trusting, and so true.
Though there were times you did some things you knew you shouldn't do.
But you have been forgiven and now at last you're free.
So won't you take my hand and share my life with me?
So when tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart,
for every time you think of me, I'm right here in your heart.

the other side of life

DESIDERATA

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons;
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be a greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however be humble;
It is a real possession in the changing of fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
Many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
For in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have the right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you may conceive him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations
in the noisy confusion of life
keep peace with your soul.

With all it's sham,
drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

- 1927 by Max Ehrmann (1872-1945)
